The sweet spot on the drums will make you sound better
The snare drum has a sweet spot somewhere near the centre of the drum. By hitting your snare around the middle a few times you will find a spot that sounds the best. Now try to aim for this spot every time you hit the snare on the back beat (2 and 4), or otherwise. Other factors for continuity is hitting the snare with the same velocity (speed), and the starting position of the stick should be roughly the same height each time, unless you actually want to change the dynamics.
This also works for the toms, but it's the snare drum that stands out the most.
